February Newsletter

February 2021

Message From the

General Manager

Reminder:

The Club’s Annual Meeting will take place on

Sunday, February 28th at 12 PM.

LOCATION: Honey Horn Pavilion.

As you would expect, the meeting’s format will differ from prior years as we take appropriate precautions relating to the health & safety of our members and staff professionals.

Given the progress made at last year’s meeting to improve the governance of the club (with new by-laws put in place to reflect the changes to the club over the past 50 years) the agenda for the 2021 meeting is quite focused.

We will:

> Receive a report on the club’s financial condition

> Hold elections for 3 of the 9 Board seats

> Respond to relevant questions from the Members

This year, we will not be hosting a happy hour after the meeting. That social gathering will be scheduled later in the year when COVID-19 concerns have been allayed.

If you are interested in putting your name forth for election to the Board of Managers, please provide Bill a “position paper” describing the skills you hope to bring to bear on behalf of the club, as well as any specific objectives you would hope to advance if on the Board.

Please submit these in electronic format no later than February 14th to Bill or Logan.

If you would like to discuss what Board Membership entails, please contact any of the Club’s Board Officers (Bill has our contact details).

The Board is hoping to attract members with Food & Beverage experience (management not just enjoying) as well as Legal expertise.

In order to facilitate an efficient meeting, we will be accepting election ballots to be dropped off or mailed to the club starting on February 21st.

You will have the opportunity to vote for specific candidates, write-in an eligible member as a candidate, or give your proxy to the President or other officer of the club to execute the vote on your behalf.

Ballots must be received by noon (12pm) on Saturday 27 February.

We will email ballots to you as well as have them available at the club in paper format for your convenience. Valid ballots or proxies must have the member’s name and signature legibly written as appropriate.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact either of us, or Bill.

With regards,

Kathy Joyce, President

The Superintendent

Greetings!

The Greens are doing good and we will be spraying Turf Pigment to maintain their color.

The Tees, Fairways, and Roughs are looking great. We have sprayed a fungicide for the Tees and a post-emerge for our fairways to control winter growth of unwanted grasses and weeds.

Our new employee working mid-day maintenance on the Tennis Courts is doing great and is able to achieve a lot of work during his time here.

We are working on getting quotes for some drainage work on fairway 2 and 3.

Golfers: Please remember when using the Driving Range to hit from the yellow markers to help control divots

Please Read… Proper Course Etiquette Proceedings

Please do not play more then one Ball per hole. This has started to back up our course and cause delays.

If a group is approaching behind you and playing quicker then you are, proper etiquette would be to allow that group to pass as you’re holding them and the groups behind them up.

Alternate groups between players coming from #9 to play on #10. The only exception is for Club sanctioned leagues and events in which the groups going from #9 to #10 must stay together to keep the tournament on track.

Thank you so much for your attention and participation.

Tennis Membership Announcement

A message from the

Tennis Committee and Staff at SWC

As we continue to do our best to maximize our court usage and online booking system, we are encouraging all members to use the “waiting list” button found at top of the court sheet.

We want to see how often and at what times – members are logging in and are unable to get a court.  Also, if courts free up and you are on the list, the system will send you an automated email letting you know the court is now available.

We also would like to ask that all Members who want to be included in a Tennis Membership list, which would provide all Tennis Members with your Name, Email, and USTA Rating to contact Cindi Reiman at cindi@americanhospitalityacademy.com so your information will be included.

This will allow Players in The Club an easier route to find others to play, practice, and enjoy our beautiful courts.
